I tried looking at some things at kevlindev with both Mozilla and Mozilla firefox.
Some of the tutorials did show up in Mozilla, but the kaliedascope example gave a message: The libart/Freetype SVG rendering engine could not initialize the FreeType library. Please go to http//www.mozilla.org/projects/fonts/unix/enabling-truetype.html and follow steps 2-7. Other pages just showed a jigsaw puzzle thing where the SVG should have been. Clicking that gave me the same message as reported earlier - not a javascript message, but one put up by the browser, telling me that it could only be viewed with the appropriate plugin. Tried the same in Firefox - it offered it's plugin finder service - it's been spinning for about 10 minutes or so - I suspect it will run forever or until I shut it down. Definitely it is a configuration issue on my end and complicating the matter is that I am a (VERY) frustated fairly newbie to Linux . Many things about Ubuntu are so simple and painless - the package system is brilliant. Going beyond that is a bit painfull for a novice.... thanks, Phil John Dowdell wrote: > pjfjacks wrote: > > Trying to install the Adobe SVG Viewer plugin in Ubuntu Linux tried > first > > with Mozilla - Mozilla reports that there are plugins now available > for SVG > > viewing in the "help/about plugins" but when I go to the Adobe SVG > site and > > try to view an example I get a popup stating that the page can only be > > viewed with the appropriate plugin. > > Do you know what the actual error message was, and have you tested the > SVG content on other sites in that browser? > > (Reason I ask is to rule out that it's a JavaScript-detection message > from the website; to safely focus on the configuration rather than that > particular content... researching plugins at the Mozilla (?)
