I have been wondering the same thing. Currently I've been experimenting with the JSObject class for java, and had some success. The only other method I can think of is utilising php, but that requires a reload of the page for every change and is not very practical for me, and I'm guessing for you. If you are interested here is a brief introduction to Java/Javascript interaction I found on google: http://www.raditha.com/java/javascript.php
