I think that this is a great idea. SVG is underrepresented in other conferences. I gave a talk on SVG at the local XML conference, Tri-XML [1], and it was very well received [2], so I think that there is definitely interest. Even when I'm attending (not presenting at) non-SVG conferences, I try to spread the word about SVG, and there are usually a few interested people (even at non-XML conferences).
In a way, presenting at SVG Open (which is a great conference) is preaching to the choir. We need to spread the love to the uninitiated. If anyone knows of an appropriate conference, I am eager and able to attend or present. I started a page for conferences on the wiki [3] a while back, and people are welcome to help fill it in. It's also a good idea to submit known SVG presentations as stories at svg.org [4].
