Judging from the information on the website (http://www.scootersoftware.com/file-comparison.php), I don't think that BeyondCompare is XML-aware, so you could just as well use a free alternative like WinMerge (http://winmerge.sourceforge.net/). For comparing XML, there's also - diffxml (http://diffxml.sourceforge.net/) and - Microsoft XML Diff and Patch 1.0 (see http://apps.gotdotnet.com/xmltools/xmldiff/).
