this is an old discussion, i don't find the way back in yahoo's bad
search engine. my intension in writing this has at least two reasons
- telling the encrypter that it is not always a good idea. especially in
the case of MapView , the part that is worth the price is the export to
SVG and not the IE-only interface you put around (my opinion). most
people working with GIS-based SVG-maps need an export (and we are
promoting MapView as one easy possibility in our workshops in Berlin!).
but afterwards, the needs are very different. most of them want to
modify parts of it, be it joining two layers in a function in order to
switch them on and off simultaneously. that needs working with your
encrypted files and that is not funny at all. the result? people take
your free version, take out the SVG, erase the copyright tag and build
their own interfaces around. this is a lose-lose situation.
- telling the users that decrypting is senseless. trying to get to the
code the way i mentioned with your files drives crazy, there are better
ways. the best is to analyze what the file does and then doing it on
your own. there's no better learning process.
