Well, Dutton's is the classic textbook for nautical navigation, and you can get it from several places (here's one: http://www.landfallnavigation.com/-bh023.html) and there's a somewhat thick article from Sea Technology about what every mariner should know about electronic charts (http://chartmaker.ncd.noaa.gov/mcd/Raster/encartcl.htm) (Basically, don't go pirouetting around a sunker in the fog using just your GPS thinking that those rocks were perfectly located to within three meters on your chart, which is often based on survey data from the 19th century!) But I don't keep up with nautical charting issues these days because I now live in Colorado, which is a long ways from the ocean... - Bill Thoen ----- To unsubscribe send a message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] -or- visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/svg-developers and click "edit my membership" ---- Yahoo!
