Ha! Phone companies are still in the mindset of soaking the masses a
nickel and dime at a time. I think that is why we are seeing such a
hard push to watch videos on your cell phone.

I just replaced my cell phone of 5 or 6 years with a much smarter one.
The sales droid was prepared to rush through a bewildering list of
features, but I made it clear that my phone requirements were two: long
battery life, and ability to easily read the display. I want to make
calls and not have to worry about the length of the call, and I want to
see who is calling me. That's it. I don't need games, I don't need the
web, I certainly don't need to view incipid videos on my phone. How
about email? Uh, no thanks, I have... email on my PC for that sort of
thing.

Actually, one justification that I can think of for web access on a cell
phone is so the user can obtain online maps. It makes sense; you're
mobile, right? A map is something you might reasonably like to have.

Which brings us back to SVG on our phones. We're saved! SVG is too
valuable to die; and too compelling an alternative to XAML or other
proprietary standards.
