Jeff, thanks for sharing this information - it is useful. It's pretty much what I expected. If we get SVG support in IE8, thats perfectly fine for me, even a tiny or basic profile with DOM support would be good for a first version.
about bundling ASV with Flash: I am pretty sure they won't bundle it. ASV isn't maintained and the latest stable release is from 2001. Luckily other browser vendors are now active in the SVG world.
