Hi,

the Batik distribution (both the stable and the SVN version) comes with a lot
of samples
and tests. Just download the distribution and have a look at the "samples"
directory.

Also, since you know SVG well, you can use any SVG example you have with Batik
(excluding SMIL, which is currently not supported in Batik).

If you have specific questions, please read the notes on the Batik homepage
(http://
xmlgraphics.apache.org/batik/), use the mailinglist
(http://xmlgraphics.apache.org/batik/
mailList.html) and the Wiki http://wiki.apache.org/xmlgraphics-batik/FrontPage

I recommend using the SVN version or the nightly builds, since they contain
many
improvements and performance enhancements over the latest stable release (1.6).

Andreas
