Also there's a commercial tool/extension called MapViewSVG 
(http://www.uismedia/mapviewsvg); We use it (and are not cnnected to the 
makers) and find it's worth its money ...

 Andreas Neumann has created a little tool which you can use for free. It 
is commandline with several options (including id options if I remember 
correctly). You can get it at
