This list has been rather quiet lately with not much new svg samples. So I'd like to show off my first post-ASV era svg sample that I can come up with. It's a map of earthquake locations for the past seven days with alert for newly detected earthquake. Actually this is my proof-of-concept to test out Opera's Server-Sent Events[1] support. Instead of using ajax to poll for new data, the server send new data by using SSE. This would free-up bandwidth with unnecessary ajax call to the server whenever there's no new data to be received. Here's the link to the demo: http://widgets.onestop.com.my/earthquake/v1.00.02/ and it will not work on IE+ASV or FF. This was created specifically as an Opera widget. SSE support is still buggy in Opera, so expect some browser crashes.
