I got this information forwarded today from Alex Danilo: Seems like SVG is not yet dead inside Adobe. Here is another project by Adobe to embed static SVG inside a "Mars" file format, which is basically a zip folder containing xml files (one per page) which links to SVG/PNG/JPEG/JPEG2000 files.
The mars file format can be displayed in an Acrobat plugin. More infos at: http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/Mars http://blogs.adobe.com/alshamma/2006/10/ cool_new_labs_project_mars_1.html Seems like an answer to Microsofts XPS. Lets hope support by Adobe better than for the Adobe SVG viewer.
