Firefox has its own SVG engine. I would recommend using the Firefox native SVG engine.
It does not support a few things, among them SMIL animation, SVG fonts, SVG filters and patterns. Patterns and some basic filters are already supported in Firefox 3 though. Most of the remaining should work fine. There is a possibility to use the Adobe SVG viewer if you manually copy all Adobe SVG plugin files to the Mozilla Plugin directory. This method, however doesn't allow communication between HTML and SVG, which works in IE. And there is also Opera 9 which has an excellent SVG engine that is close to ASV, functionality wise.
