in that it starts with a linebreak or somesuch rather than

Both versions of IE (on each machine) are the same. I had recently
uninstalled and reinstalled the Adobe SVG viewer on the desktop
machine. Even more interesting is that I can see other SVG docs in IE
on the desktop machine.

I'll keeping looking and messing, but I'm really clueless as to what
the problem might be. Any suggestions are appreciated.
