Hi, the following document is the result of a conversion from a pdf file using PDFTron demo version, plus an additional xsl transformation relocating style and defs elements to a more convenient position.
http://xoomer.alice.it/fcnet/svg/CONV_LOC_MODENA_2.svg Text portions are rendered fairly well in ASV, but they look not so good in Firefox 2.0.0.1, while Opera 9.10 for Windows crashes upon loading the document. If you look at the source, you will see that some fonts are defined inside the defs element but my understanding of the state-of-the-art of Firefox is that it doesn't support the font module at all, so that should explain a lot in terms of these problems. In an attempt to see if by removing the "custom fonts" altogether i could get something less horrible, i manually redefined class ps23 in order to use font Arial with a size of 40, but i don't see any improvements, it looks like css styles are completely ignored. A sample of text using class ps23 is in the upper left corner, that one with the green background containing the words "il pesce". Is there something else in this file that prevents Firefox from scaling the text properly? I tried also removing the "chained" class specification "ps00 ps23" and leave just "ps23" but the text looks the same. Can someone explain me how and if i could get that text scaled to 40 points in Firefox? Also, is anyone able to see the file in Opera? Apparently the file display if i load it locally, but crashes when it is retrieved from the web.
