hi all,

my current host does not support java so i am unable to use batik together
with my svg project. java support seems to be fairly common place and i been
digging around to find who can offer me the best package.

this deal seems almost too good to be true:-
<http://www.cwihosting.com/linux_starter_plan.php>
http://www.cwihosting.com/linux_starter_plan.php

would i be missing some vital support if i used these guys? Private JVM for
JSP Hosting & Servlets Support is an extra $3 per month, but still this is
good for the complete package.

i understand batik requires a 'java runtime environment' 1.3 or above.
however i'm not sure how this relates to the type of java provision offered
here. i'm guessing its more than i require, but just wanted to be sure
before going ahead. please could someone warn me if there is an
incompatibility issue.

listed under development tools is 'imagemagick'. i read about it and i
understand this can be interfaced with php. does this mean it can be run on
a server and the perform the svg to png conversion i require for my web
application? i previously thought batik was the only tool which would do
this online.

sorry if these are very basic questions, but this is new territory for me.

thanks for your patience,

cheers

harvey
