Hi Paul,

As an answer to the original question, and in case you don't manage 
to get the results you need, Illustrator will actually produce the 
svg file with origin 0,0 (including 1/2 of stroke width) and hard 
transforms applied. In case you need some positive offset after all, 
you can add one object in the Illustrator coordinate system direction 
and manually remove it afterwards. You may then eventually paste the 
group containing your objects into your own svg file.
