@David >Unfortunately I could not understand completely, what you said. Did you say that the setAttribute method does not work, because Nokia does not support it? Is it possible that "an alternative?" is supported (rootElement.setCurrentTime)? It would be nice if you could bring light into this. ----------- Well, it's good to see that your clock is now working in both Opera and IE. That's progress. Alas, no, that's not what I was saying. I had a conjecture as to why it wasn't working in IE, but Erik's explaination persuaded me that my conjecture was likely wrong. That you have it working in IE now is all the more reason to ignore my diagnosis. My current conjecture (just as naive as the first) would be that Nokia 6300 may be supporting SVG Tiny and according to http://www.w3.org/TR/SVGMobile/#sec-scripting "SVGT does not support scripting." If true this would explain it. Somebody who knows the Nokia 6300 profile would be able to confirm or deny. Whether true or not it reminds me of a couple of questions I have been mulling over for some time for the folks who write the specs: might it be possible to allow for certain initialization of SMIL events or attribute values to be handled through some kind of "micro-script" environment: specifically allowing initialization from Math.random(), Date(), or forms[n].elements[k].value (or its SVG analogue). I don't know if this is the proper forum for such discussion or if it is better brought to the SVG Working Group, and if so, whether ordinary citizenry is encouraged to raise issues within the WG. Depending on advice, I may be tempted to reraise this issue (perhaps with use cases) in another thread in the appropriate place. I seem to recall some interesting SMIL-like suggestions to enable some simple math being made in the HTML WG.
