Hi David, I'm glad to hear that you're generally impressed with the beta. Regarding the choking filters, some work is ongoing to improve filter performance. It would be good to have a list of the SVG files containing filters that you're having problems with for us to test against.
Thanks for the links to the SVG files that are causing crashes. As you say, crashing is definitely not the desired behavior. ;-) I've filed a bug for the issue with these files at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=418206 BTW, if you file bugs using the link I provided you will be automatically filing the bug in the SVG component, so no need to hunt for it.
