Adobe has planned to discontinue support for its SVG Viewer 3 in January. IE8 should be finalized sometime shortly thereafter.
MS can probably acquire this robust ActiveX component, and easily bundle it in the finished IE8 package. This has presented a unique opportunity for MS, providing them a seamless means of initiating SVG support in their browser. Although not 'native', it surely will create a supremely positive message to SVG developers who want to employ SVG in the IE environment. As a development community, I think we should actively suggest and support this for both Adobe and MS.
