Sorry if my answers are short, my english is not good.

libxml2, good library but very big and with dependencies. I didn't need
all his power, instead libmsvg includes a custom expat library, so it is
small and without dependencies.

rsvg, gnome and cairo centric, lot of dependencies, difficult of use.

libmsvg doen't want to be a full svg library, only for static graphics
and it wants to be small and easy to use and without dependencies so
small programs can use it. I planned it for add vector graphic files
read/write capabilities to a graphics library I maintain too: mgrx
(http://mgrx.fgrim.com).
