Yes, but that's not where you're going wrong. href is in the xlink namespace and you set it as setAttributeNS(<xlinkns>, "href", <value>) you don't need to put xlink in twice in two different arguments. You get it right with the createElementNS where you write it as createElementNS(<svgNS>, <element>), you don't write createElementNS(<svgNS>, "svg:g") do you?
