I did a set of similar drawings a fews ago. In the process I tried out several different approaches to doors and windows. 1. Place a rectangle filled with the background color where the door should be. Although this approach is simple, the effect is only visual. The "wall" is still there behind the rectangle. 2. Place a rectangle filled with the background color and stroked with a thin line. Like the previous approach, this is simple, but the effect is still only visual. The "wall" is still there behind the rectangle. 3. Replace the simple rectangle with a path, only drawing lines where the walls actually exist. This approach is more complicated, but it gets a more accurate representation. It was also more necessary in my case, because my house is not rectangular. If you are looking for a "good enough" image, to see what you can get without investing a bunch of time, the first two approaches do work relatively well. G.
