Hello Everyone,

I use SVG graphics for skinning of my non profit web app (still in
development) and I am sad that I cannot use many cool backgrounds available
on Internet [1,2]. Yes, they can be converted into SVG in Adobe Illustrator,
but the result is quite huge (almost 1MB file). I think it would be nice to
have a support for gradient meshes in SVG what could improve interest in
vector graphic on the web - cool designs independend on the resolution in a
fraction of raster graphics size.

During searching I've found this document from yesterday! :-)
http://dev.w3.org/SVG/modules/advancedgradients/SVGAdvancedGradientReqs.html

Have anybody an idea how long finalizing of such standard can take? One, two
or rather 5 years? I know that support in browsers is another think hard to
predict...
Anyway, I am glad some activity has already started!

Regards,

Jan
