Hi,

The thing I have trouble with is using JavaScript to change the display
attributes of nested objects. In my web comic, one fame is displayed at a time
and all frames originally have display="none". Most frames have a number of
hot zones that receive events and bubbles (for speach or thoughts and some
boxes that display information) in them. The hot zones and bubbles appear and
dissapear via JavaScript which is trigured mostly by mouseover and mouseout
events on the hot zones. To display a frame, JavaScript is used to set the
display attributes of the hot zones and bubbles to their starting states (this
is done to cover eventualities like the user going through some of the bubbles,
leaving the frame and then returning - also some frames are the same with
different hot zones and bubbles). The problem is that if you have an ancestral
element with its display set to none and use Javascript to set the display of a
descendent to none and then set the ancestor's display to inline, nothing
appears (except possibly some objects that have SMIL animation or have their
display changed inline later). This is extremely annoying and so bad that it
makes it impossible for me to check for any other problems!
