Hi, The elements that requiredFeatures should work on are explicitly listed here: http://www.w3.org/TR/SVG/attindex.html Some elements e.g. marker are excluded so you can't do a blanket implement it on everything approach.
The 1.1 Specification does not list textArea as supporting this attribute and while SVG 1.2 Tiny does list it, we haven't implemented any of SVG 1.2 Tiny (other than where it's exactly the same as SVG 1.1 full of course). What you could do is put the test on a supported element e.g. a <g> and use that to wrap the textArea. It works in Opera as it has implemented most of SVG 1.2 Tiny.
