connections: simplify/rename flush_pending_by_connection() ->
remove_connection_from_pending()
flush_pending_by_state() can remove and delete lots of connections,
remove_connection_pending() is pexpect()ed to remove just one
connection (and never delete it).

discard_connection()
Make delete_connection() slightly simplier.
