For some reason, on my testing system, west's kernel is newer than east's. west: 3.12.11-201.fc19.x86_64 east: 3.9.5-301.fc19.x86_64
East's kernel was built Tue Jun 11 19:39:38 UTC 2013 so it is quite obsolete. Paul said that the machine creation process does an update before cloning the machines.
