FYI, It turned out that "make distclean" didn't honour $(OBJDIR) (it instead deleted OBJ.$$OSDEP.$$ARCH :-/). While fixing that I took the opportunity to also change "make distclean ; make distclean" so that it wouldn't trigger a recursive re-build of $(OBJDIR).
