Yes, it is kinda stupid. The -w is because the packets are supposed
to be blocked and we don't want a huge timeout on the ping command.
But the -w means to stop at time X and for some reason that just
circles around another ping to send or not.

I see these sometimes too. It looks like a bug in fedora that does not
always disable these link local addresses as per configuration.
