My bad,
I had misconfigured eth1!
(I wrote:

auto eth1
iface eth0 inet static

instead of

iface eth1 inet static)

Now everything is working fine. VPN is up and running.

Looks like you ran ipsec verify without starting the ipsec service on
the klips check?
