ARE WE LIVE???? --YEAH! Whew! Gotta lot of catching up to do...SO, here's an old email I tried to send that never got thru--please disregard the dated material:
************************************** Hugh Falk Writes.... I can sense Joe taking out a second mortgage on the house as I write this. And who really needs a car anyway.. when there are this many Origin games and artifacts left to buy :-) ************************************** Heehee--I always find it hysterical to see that people remember the Ol' Museum here, even when I don't post regularly--please take no offense--I love all you guys (in a manly sorta way)--Trust that you are ALL mentioned fondly and frequently in our household. Just an example of a typical Sunday afternoon in our home: Paula: (looking over my shoulder): "WHOA!--Fortran has stuff up on Ebay?!" Me: "Yeah, but it's all common--I assume it's just his doubles." Paula: "Did you check his 'other auctions'?" Me: "Of course I did." Paula: "Well, he may put something rare up later--keep an eye on it." the problem is my old email provider that is linked to the forum--it's laggy, and lousy (I sometimes don't get mail until two entire days after delivery!). I want to reconnect to swcollect with my new address, but the old address seems to not want to send any messages to disconnect it! (Thanks to Jim for fixing this--it's great to be back!) :) Funnily enough, it's my WIFE who is pressuring me to bid on all of this stuff! After exhausting all of our extra cash on the Drash, I think we need to back off on the purchases a bit, but who am I to disobey a request from the love of my life? :) *********************************************************** HUGH: The guy even mentions the Origin Museum in a couple of his ads. It's like he's taunting you, Joe :-)) TOM: Not taunting I think, showing respect, I have a feeling they know each other *********************************************************** Tom was right, Hugh--I do know the guy (NOW)--When I saw his first auctions, I immediately emailed him, and asked about other stuff. He asked me to call him on the phone to talk about selling me some of his rarer stuff, and to ask what it was worth. Being that he's selling his entire collection to put a downpayment on his first home, I felt that it would have been callous of me to try and get 'The Great Deal'. I pushed him to "Post the rarer stuff on Ebay--I'll bid on it anyway, and also give my collector friends and opportunity to bid as well--you'll make more money this way!" Please send your thank you cards and letters to The Origin Museum. :P He also gave me some GREAT Origin stories that I'll be posting on my site soon! (we talked on the phone for HOURS--thank the higher power for 10-10-987!) If anyone's interested, I did a few minor updates to the site recently, (in the STORIES section). One aricle about the FM-TOWNS, another about the U7 'Kill Lord British' thing, and some old pics of R.G. when we visited in 2001. Rhea (pronounced 'RAY') Shelly is a great guy, fellas. He's one of us--just a working class hero, with a passion for game collecting. When you bid, be kind, but know that there was more than ONE sniper in Washington, D.C.! B-) Props to Pedro for doing the same thing as me--writing to him, and asking about other stuff! (yes, Pedro...he told me you were interested as well...now you need to share with all of us any deals you got!) :) I just always assumed that this tactic was 'old hat' for you guys--I may be shooting myself in the foot here, but some of the best deals that I ever got were from making friends with ebay sellers, who ended up to be gaming company employees!--In fact, most of my introductions to all of YOU initiated from this same practice! Now that my email problems to the forum are rectified, I may as well take this opportunity to do a 'Shout Out' list to everyone: Josh--Nice to meet you--I am chartreuse with envy! Tom--Latest acquisitions? I have new pics to show you! Edward--I have something of interest for you--the quest is solved!--email me, and say 'hello' Hugh--I miss our talks. Your Apple still works! :) Stuart, Dan--Sorry that this year's Philly Classic wasn't organized like last year--(best Philly accent)We'll miss yuz both. C.E.--Thanks for the plugs on your site--I get tickled when I read about myself! :) Romero--Any new pics of stuff in your basement to drive me crazy with envy? Mail 'em! Steve--I talk to you too much ALREADY! ;) Pedro--How goeth the Akalabeth research? Excellent work, last we wrote. Can we combine our new info? Alexander--We need to catch up! I've got new stories! The battle for the 'Bad Blood Art' will be bloody indeed! :) Jim--Any new projects? I'd love to hear about them. All involved in the organization of a Computer Game Expo--Thanks for all of your hard work! As a fitting end to this email, I now present to you all a photo showing proof that the relics of gaming's past are being remembered, and preserved: http://www.originmuseum.net/steve/drash.jpg "...Preserving Worlds..."
