I am *very* new to the world of actionscript development, and have been
struggling to figure out how to create sIFR 3 compatible movies using
free software. I was able to successfully make sIFR 2 movies with
swfmill, which was very exciting.

 From what I can tell the sIFR 3 movie is Flash 8 and the font
definitions look like;

<DefineFont3 objectID="1">
        <data>
          <data>...hQEhQEMVHJhZGVHb3RoaWMA....</data>
       </data>
....

Where as the sIFR 2 movie is Flash 7 and the font defintions look like;

<DefineFont2 objectID="1" isShiftJIS="0" isUnicode="0" isANSII="0"
wideGlyphOffsets="1" italic="0" bold="0" language="0" name="Futura"
ascent="1032" descent="301" leading="0">
        <glyphs>
          <Glyph map="32">
            <GlyphShape>
              <edges>
                <ShapeSetup/>
              </edges>
            </GlyphShape>
          </Glyph>
          <Glyph map="46">
            <GlyphShape>
              <ShapeSetup x="158" y="-101" fillStyle0="1"/>
                <CurveTo x1="23" y1="0" x2="17" y2="16"/>
.....

Which is *compatible* with the output of swfmill, as it looks like plain
html.

Has Adobe/Macromedia thrown yet another curve ball in there to keep Free
Software and Industry Standard loving people in the same old
condundrum?? Or, is there a possible way out of this?

I appreciate any feedback.

Thanks!

~ Brice
