I usually run a dual boot of OpenSuse 11 and Vista.
I have switched to primarily Vista after the Suse upgrade to 11.1 was an unmitigated disaster. I did not want to take the time to setup a cygwin envir in Vista so I downloaded a free OpenSuse 11 vmware appliance. But that doesn't quite work which is my problem today. For more background, my OpenSuse 11.1 install, although damaged, I can still manage to use swfmill perfectly but I have other problems which means I still work in Vista.

Rebooting into OpenSuse just to recompile resources is too painful. I want to use swfmill in VMWare.
I'm always compiling swfmill from source, v2.12.6.

The problem: in vmware, the font doesn't appear when the flash runs. There are no errors when compiling and the exact same setup works in the OpenSuse partition. But for some reason, only in the VMware the font fails. swfmill does not report any errors either. The font is vera.ttf.

Everything looks normal when compiling, but when running, no text appears (and no error messages either).

What might cause this? Identical setups, no errors, just the huge difference at run time. PS: I only ever run in Vista, but the fonts should be embedded so that shouldn't matter.

<font id="DefaultFont" import="resources/Vera.ttf" glyphs="-'/ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZabcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789 :,.()!?$="/>

Thank you very much for reading all that. I hope you can help.
