Hmmm...Your two pages are identical for me in FF3 and IE7 on one machine.
I'll check on another when I get back to work tomorrow. It could be that the
panel I am looking at the moment does not have proper colour management.

I looked at that example too, Aran, and it works as expected, so I may
just lift the code. I've actually been following the instructions at
http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2008/10/get_better_color_through_fp10.html
which say the only requirement is a single line "stage.colorCorrection
= ColorCorrection.ON;" .  One possibility is that those instructions
are not as reliable as they appear, or don't tell the full story.

(I'll leave for a day or two). It doesn't mean I haven't made a
mistake, but I have double checked and believe I'm using the same SWF
and parameters.
