Q1 is not swfobject related - you need to do this in Flash if you are talking about changing the look of your swf, otherwise you use standard HTML methods to change images etc
Q2 - If you want to communicate from Flash to the browser. You need to use something like ExternalInterface. Either Google it, or check out a general Flash forum.
