[disclaimer: external project update notification]

I'm pleased to announce the production-ready 1.0 release of the flensed project
family: http://www.flensed.com/fresh/2008/12/flensed-1-0-is-now-released/

This family of projects includes CheckPlayer, which is a wrapper around
SWFObject 2.1 functionality that provides many common, helpful features for SWF
operation and manipulation. Some helpful additions to the SWFObject toolset
are: event driven callback notifications for all SWF operations, SWF loading
percentage (and complete) detection, ExternalInterface readiness detection, SWF
loading timeout, and many more.

Also included is flXHR (which uses CheckPlayer), a javascript+invisible-swf
replacement for the normal native XHR (ajax) functionality of a browser.
However, since it uses flash, flXHR harnesses the Adobe cross-domain
server-opt-in policy model to allow direct, non-proxied cross-domain
communication right within the XHR object. Because it speaks the identical API
signature to the native XHR object, flXHR is drop-dead easy to plug in to any
existing page, including those with any of the major JS frameworks.

If you use SWFObject and you find yourself frequently fiddling with code to
operate on your SWF's, come over and check out CheckPlayer -- odds are there
may be useful functionality you may find there. And if you do anything Ajax on
your page, check out flXHR.
