Hi kip, When I first started using SWFObject I too was a little baffled.
I use the Adobe AIR Generator to come up with the code to embed your Flash in web pages with SWFObject. The AIR Generator is available here in the downloads section and if you need to install Adobe AIR itself you can get it from the Adobe website. To go along with that, here is a link to a fantastic video tutorial which guides you through the process from start to finish :- http://www.gotoandlearn.com/ Scroll down, its on the left and entitled "Embedding Flash with SWFObject 2.0". I know we are on version 2.1 now, but the basics of the tutorial still apply. Hope that helps, this was the tutorial that finally opened my eyes up on how to get to grips with SWFObject!!.
