Sounds to me like you not only copied swfobject.js from a web site that you do not own, but also a swf or two - swfobject.js can be copied and used from any site, but you'd get a possibly better version from the author - but I'd guess that the swf you copied or hot-linked to had some code in it that allowed the real author to 'disable' the copy you took. If this isn't the case, and you own the swf, you can give us a link to a live page, and we might be able to spot any code errors. :~)
