No, there is no mechanism to support other plugins. There is code written to
support the specifics of the Flash plugin (with its particular
idiosyncracies and bugs).

That being said, the sourcce is made available to you under MIT license, so
feel free to use and modify the code if you so desire (as long as you retain
credit to the original authors)

FYI - Geoff (The original author of SWFObject 1.x) did release QTObject:
http://blog.deconcept.com/code/qtobject/qtobject.html which might have the
functional;ity you are after for Quicktime specifically.
