So the JW Media player project is video player specific. It is a Flash based player which you can use to play back various types of media such as FLV (flash video), mp3s and images.
SWFObject is a JavaScript library which can be used to embed/display ANY Flash file onto a web page. The library gives convenience methods to developers to do things like flash player version detection, alternative content, SEO friendly markup etc. The JW Media player project uses SWFObject to embed/display their player into HTML pages. Many other developers and projects use SWFObject for their developement, as well as Adobe on most Creative Suite Applications which deal with Flash content (Dreamweaver, Flash, Flex, Catalyst etc) Does this clarify things?
