z-index is irrelevant when embedding SWFs because Flash Player doesn't play
by the same rules as HTML elements.  look at the example file for that
tutorial <http://demos.learnswfobject.com/html-over-swf/dynamic.html>, and
you'll see that regardless of what z-index is specified, the SWF is always
placed in the same spot in the stack.

the important parts, as covered in the tutorial, are that wmode is set to
either opaque or transparent, and that your CSS has been set up with
position: relative (it must be specified on the parent element of whatever
you're trying to embed, too).
