Isi. You need to read up on the wmode (window mode) param, and what affect the values have on your swf. From what you have described, it seems like you want to set the wmode for your swf to "opaque". This allows the swf to be part of the z-indexing of the page without the performance hit (and bugs) associated with "transparent".
