What I had hacked together was this:

Where my $LAB called the following:
.script("js/swfobject.js").wait()
.script("js/swfobject-register.js")
And my swfobject-register.js
swfobject.registerObject("game640x480", "10", "expressInstall.swf");
swfobject.registerObject("mochi-login", "10", "expressInstall.swf");
However I am getting an error in IE as you said I would (I had not
noticed, FF was not reporting any).
I'm going to re-read your solution Kyle and see if I can get that
going.
