?The "jQuery SWFObject" project actually was not endorsed by nor had any ties to the official SWFObject team, nor did the author actually use any of our code or techniques. The similarity between the two projects is surface at most, with the name and overall idea of dynamic SWF embedding being the only overlap.

At this point, we do not have any plans to collaborate on a jQuery version of SWFObject. Moreover, while the "jQuery SWFObject" project may very well have merit and usefulness to the jQuery community, it's use is not something we officially sponsor nor support. You would need to contact the author of that plugin to ask him about his plans to host it on any CDN's or not.

SWFObject currently is working on a bug-fix 2.3 release, with no official word on when that is targetted to release. Beyond that, additional features or changes for subsequent releases have not been seriously discussed yet.

Subject: [SWFObject] Are there plans for an official jQuery version of SWFObject?

I know there's the separate jQuery SWFObject project at
http://jquery.thewikies.com/swfobject, but are there any plans with
versions 2.3 or 3 of SWFObject to have an official jQuery version with
all the jQuery hooks and/or possibly trim down unneeded code if jQuery
is already loaded? Even if you don't want to develop this version
yourself, any plans on taking the existing jQuery SWFObject project
and promoting its use and possibly get on the Google AJAX APIs?
