This is not really a swfobject related issue per se, so you would be better
off asking this question on a general Flash forum etc.

You need to read up on the security Flash player puts in place for executing
links etc.

A quick change which may help is putting a value for the allowScriptAccess
param. If everything is linked on the same site then setting it to
"sameDomain" should be fine, otherwise you will need to set it to"always".

Also note that you have to upload your swf to the server for testing. It
will most likely fail locally.
