JC if you look at the source code on the link you supplied, you can see that all of the players are the same swf with different params passed. Once the swf is requested the first time, then the reset are "preloaded" (in that it will pulled from browser cache)
What you are seeing seems to be the delay in loading the external images used by the swf for the play/pause buttons etc (e.g. http://jchmusic.com/audioplay/buttons/classic_small/playdown.png). Perhaps you want to preload these / speak to the developer of the music player. As I can right click on the area where the play button appears and the the swf is already embedded before the play button appears. Anyhow, as Sam said, this seems to not be an issue with SWFObject, but a generalist Flash question better suited to other resources.
