AFAIK = As far as I know (sorry, tendency to shorten common phrases when
replying online)

Putting 100% on the swf will mean that it will resize of the bounds of its
container(s). So somewhere you have to size the swf :)

As I said, there is no known client-side way of correctly extracting /
calculating the swf size without the swf somehow. Having been working with
Flash fort 10+ years, and I have never come across anything, but I said
AFAIK, because it might exist out there somewhere and I just don't know
about it...

If you control the swf(s) that appear on your page, you could include a util
function in all your files which is exposed through ExternalInterface
(Google for a tutorial). This means you can call a function on your swf like
getDimensions() and it will return you an Array (or a delimited string etc)
which has its stage dimensions. You would then use this to size the swf
correctly. Now it has its complications as you will need to hide the swf
until you work out its dimensions etc. An easier solution is just to go
server-side...
