Have you heard anything further from the xpdf maintainer (Derek)? I've
found another case where my simple workaround (see above) isn't good
enough - it seems that in this case the font knows how to handle a
space even though the state->getWordSpace() call return 0 - the effect
is that spacing then get sort of doubled...

So apparently we need a better way that handles more cases.

All suggestions welcome. I've attached my new example - this one works
correctly without my patch. For most of my situations my patch helps,
though.
