LAME is encoded by default. A wild guess then.. your package managers ( one presumes that you used Portage for the Gentoo ) have filed the Lame extensions where swftools can't find them? Try adding compiler flags / configure options to tell swftools where they are? [ Sorry not a Mac user ] Regards, Chris.
